I am working on themes of Aristotelian physics as it influences Dante in the Divine Comedy. Science always has influenced the writing paradigm and I want to show how in Dante's work.

I know the correct answer is "none", but for us non-Italian speakers we have a few choices. Follow this link to the poll

1. Pursue my personal research into metaphors of solidity and weight in the Divine Comedy.

2. Provide a forum for other teachers especially my fellows from the summer 2002 Dante Academy and for future fellows and for anyone interested in "Dante-werk".

3. Provide a place for links to all things Dante that might help high school teachers to place him within reach of students.

4. Allow others to help define the study of Dante in high school.

Students thirst for knowledge about morality and spirituality. I know Dante can give it to them. It had been almost twenty-five years since I had read my first Divine Comedy (the Ciardi trans.), but not school has gone by that I didn't expose my seniors to at least a crumb of Alighieri excerpted in my textbook. I wanted to give them more, maybe not full immersion like I did this summer at the Dante Academy with Arvin Vos and colleagues, but a baptism into genius of Dante. Students need Dante and I am determined to give it to them.
